Spring Essentials to Keep in Your Car

Items to store in your vehicle for safety and emergencies.

When you’re on the open road, anything can happen. Usually, this is a good thing because new experiences and adventures away. But, in reality, motorists face accident and disaster every day. Whether it’s a flat tire, a dead battery, cuts, bumps, or bruises, there are a few essentials we should keep in our cars to ensure health and safety at all times. Now that winter’s over, it’s likely that you won’t need the ice scraper and snow shovel. Here are a few items to keep in your vehicle once we’ve hit springtime. First aid kit – Include bandages, sterile gauze pads, adhesive tape, scissors, latex gloves, and antiseptic wipes. Food and comfort – Include a blanket or two, bottled water, and energy bars. Communication – Batter-powered radio, paper maps, USB mobile device charger. Spare tire – This should in the trunk already! Tire sealant – In a punch, a sealant will help you to patch a hole in your tire long enough to get yourself to a nearby phone, hotel, or mechanic without have to fully replace the tire yourself. Tire pressure gauge – Checking your tire pressure often is a good practice, enabling you to know when to replace the tire. Reflectors – Placing reflectors behind your vehicle will help warn other drivers and create a buffer between your vehicle and oncoming traffic. Flashlight (with extra batteries) – A little light can go a long way in an emergency. Pack extra batteries, just in case. Jumper cables – A dead battery is less of a headache with a pair of jumper cables in the trunk and a good citizen willing to help. Help keep your vehicle running smoothly by practicing three monthly maintenance to dos. Do you have the right car insurance to help safeguard your vehicle, finances, and needs?
