Before you take your car on a 100+ journey to the festival, be sure that your car will make it! Here are tips to get your vehicle in tiptop condition for the festival season.
Coolant
When the car is running, and the engine is warm, if you smell a sickly sweet scent, you’re likely to have a coolant leak. If you see green or yellow streaks on the engine-oil dipstick, the odds are higher!
Oil
Take your vehicle for an oil change before revving up for your road trip! While you’re at it, have the brake fluid, transmission fluid, and power-steering fluid checked.
Battery
Get your battery checked! It’s cheaper to pay for a new battery than for both a tow truck and a new battery.
Gas
Keep your fuel tank above half-full to prevent condensation from forming!
Tires
Ensure that your tires have enough tread to survive the round journey and that the air pressure in each tire is set to the manufacturer’s recommendation.
Baggage
Don’t put heavy items above the back headrest of the seats as these can become projectiles. Pack the heaviest items at the bottom and always make sure that you have the spare tire in your trunk – just in case!
Pack an emergency kit
Pack plenty of water, a first aid kit, non-perishable snacks, a flashlight, tools, and any other essentials that you may need if you find yourself broken down on the side of the road or are involved in an accident. These critical items are important for any road trip!
