How to Clean These Tricky Kitchen Spots

Clean these germ-infested spots that are hiding in your kitchen.

No matter how clean you think your kitchen is, there’s always a handful of hidden places that attract dust, grime, and germs. When you’re doing your daily clean and wipe down of the kitchen, don’t forget about these tricky kitchen spots! Here’s how to keep your kitchen corners spotless. Refrigerator-shelf seams There’s more to keeping a fridge clean than throwing out expired food. Keeping the machine clean helps to safeguard your food and ensures the fridge is running well. Cleaning the shelf seams is doable without removing the shelves, thankfully! Make a paste consisting of equal parts baking soda and hot water, and use an old toothbrush to gently scrub the seam where the glass meets the plastic edge. Rinse with a damp sponge, and wash the shelves in the sink with soapy water. Stove grates It’s hard to believe that stove grates can get so dirty. Get rid of sticky residue around your stove by removing the stove grates, and letting them sit in hot, soapy water. Scrub away grime and dry well before replacing them. Dishwasher seal While the dishwasher does the cleaning, it’s easy to forget to clean the dishwasher. The seal of this machine can get especially dirty, catching dust, liquids, and grime. As it builds, it’s quick to taint your entire dishwasher with germs. To clean the seal, use a cotton swab dipped in white vinegar, as this dissolves hard-water deposits. Give the dispenser a clean with a damp, soapy sponge. Once the interior of the dishwasher is clean and dry, vacuum up debris using the crevice attachment. Utensil drawer Have you ever stopped to look at the container that you’re putting your utensils in? You may be shocked to see crumbs and grime lurking where you put your clean cutlery. The easiest way to clean your utensil drawer is to take the tray out and run it through your (newly cleaned) dishwasher. If it’s made of wood or bamboo, wipe it clean with a dipped rag of warm, soapy water. While you concentrate on cleaning your kitchen, let us take care of your insurance needs.
